The 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP17) will be held in Ulaanbaatar from August 17 to 28.
The Ulaanbaatar City Investment Agency is responsible for the construction, installation, and preparatory works for the temporary facilities in the “Blue Zone,” where the main events of the conference will take place.
Today, Ulaanbaatar City Mayor B. Purevdavaa visited the main COP17 venue to inspect the progress of preparations and construction works.
Last week, the Ulaanbaatar City Investment Agency carried out client supervision over the installation of communications and alarm systems, landscaping, pedestrian paths and public spaces, decorative and landscaping elements, security fencing, sanitation facilities, and guard posts. These facilities have since been commissioned for permanent use.
Preparations for the conference are currently 95 percent complete. Work is underway to complete the installation of traditional gers for receiving guests and portable sanitation facilities in the coming days and hand them over to the organizing working group.
